Description
Spend the day where two natural wonders meet—the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef. Begin your journey with a coastal drive from Cairns to Port Douglas, taking in panoramic views of the Coral Sea along the way.
Your first stop is Mossman Gorge, tucked in the southern reaches of Daintree National Park. Carved out by the cool waters of the Mossman River, this stunning gorge features giant granite boulders surrounded by lush rainforest. Walk beneath the towering rainforest canopy, swim in cool mountain streams, and take part in a traditional Welcome to Country and Smoke Ceremony led by the Kuku Yalanji people.
Continue north to board a wildlife river cruise across the Daintree River. Keep watch for crocodiles and other native wildlife as your guide shares fascinating facts about this unique habitat.
Back on land, head to enjoy a delicious lunch before taking a short nature walk through a mix of towering rainforest, mangrove ecosystems and lush undergrowth before visiting the only place on Earth where two UNESCO World Heritage sites meet - the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.
Before heading back to Cairns, make a final stop at the Daintree Ice Cream Co., where you can choose to treat yourself to a scoop of locally made ice cream (at your own expense). After a day of adventure, sit back and enjoy the scenic ride back to your accommodation.
