Some of Indonesia's, and arguably the world's, most stunning underwater ecosystems exist around the Gili Trawangan area. Head over to Buddha Dive Shop on the south east corner of the island for a chance to visit some of these highly regarded dive sites. Search for pgymy seahorses and trevally at 'Secret Reef'; hold your nerve amongst reef sharks at the aptly named 'Shark Point'; or plunge into the murky depths of 'Deep Turbo'.
Buddha Dive's team of massively experienced instructors are on hand to share their wealth of knowledge; both amateurs and diving enthusiasts alike will learn something new here.
For beginners, the 'Open Water' course takes three days and is made up of theory sessions and pool excersises, where you are shown how to use all the equipment and taught how to control yourself in dives up to a maximum depth of 18 metres. The 'Advanced Open Water' course is spread over five adventure dives and includes depths of over 30 metres, ideal for already experienced divers.
